Got a Few Ribbons at the Fair

Two out of 3 of my photos got ribbons at the Fair and both my entries in the Hobbies and Crafts got ribbons. Here are the photos.

We only went out there today to see if I won any ribbons and I’m happy with what I got. I’m not one for Fair food or rides so we didn’t stay long.

Washer and Dryer, Old versus New

About 6 1/2 years ago we bought one of those washer/dryer combos (the washer on the bottom and the dryer on the top). Well a few months ago the dryer died, never to rise from the ashes like a phoenix. The washer has been hanging on to its dead companion, quietly mourning its demise.

Today we went to Sears and bought a new washer and dryer (separate, not a combo), and they will be delivered Wednesday.

The old washer/dryer will be escorted to washer/dryer heaven where they will spend eternity in loving embrace, recalling fond memories of “wet” nights and “hot” days.

Steampunk Cow Pattern

I found the cutest steampunk cow pattern on eBay. The design is by Frowning Frances Folk Art Patterns. I plan on entering the finished object in our local Fair. Which means I better get my butt in gear and get it finished.

This is the pattern:

Isn’t it adorable!?!

I have all kinds of watch/clock parts, hardware, beads, bottle caps, wire, sprockets, etc. to embellish it with. I just need to get moving on completing it.

This is what I have done so far. I used some cow print fabric that I tea stained to give it that grundgie look. Sewing on the legs is a little awkward. Felt like I was dealing with an octopus. But it will stand on its own.

I only have about a week to go before I have to take my entries over to the fair grounds.

Note to self: Get your butt in gear and get this done.
